I’ve been watching the IIHF Men’s World Division 1, Group B Championships.

These are the #hockey nations that can’t compete with Canada, USA, Sweden, Finland or Russia.

There were a few surprises.

For example, South Korea is doing surprisingly well. They are a clear step above the likes of Spain and the Netherlands. And they could someday be a legit hockey power.

China is doing about as well as I thought they would. Clearly, the Chinese-Canadian influence has rubbed off on their hockey program, and it’s beginning to take root.

The country that really doesn’t belong in this tournament? Spain. It hurts to watch them.

The best country, by far, is Estonia. They could definitely field an NHL player soon.
