Mir fehlen die Worte, und ich mach mir riesige Sorgen um meine Berliner Freund:innen und ihre Lieben, und ich bin total wütend!
Und ja, es ist gut, dass unser Land ein Rechtsstaat ist und ordentlich ermittelt vor einem Urteil. Das finde ich gut!
Gleichzeitig finde ich, das hätte man doch so schreiben können: "Die Polizei (und sonstige relevante Behörden) ermittelt noch die genauen Hintergründe". So wie es jetzt steht liest es sich nach einer verkrampften und die Opfer nicht ganz ernst nehmenden Haltung der Tagesschau. Es ist ja nicht als ob Daesh (auch bekannt als Islamischer Staat) jemals ein Geheimnis darum gemacht hätten, was sie queeren Menschen antun.

And yes, it is a good thing that Germany is a liberal democracy where police investigate crimes, and there is a proper trial. I am hugely, massively in favor of that!
Simultaneously, the screenshot shows German national TV claiming that "the circumstances are unclear", right after stating that the perpetrator was known for connections to Daesh, and had served a prison sentence in the context. I think it would have been perfectly fine journalistic best practice if they had written that police are investigating the exact circumstances. That would have been so much better, because it would not have been insulting to the victims and society at large. I mean, Daesh never made a secret of what they do to queer people.
