My article with Eran Shor has just been published in Sociological Science!

We use NBA award selections to investigate the nature of status, celebrity, and merit. Our big argument is that sometimes public recognitions of status aren't _supposed_ to be about performance—the endogenous nature of status is a feature, not a bug. We also get into what "performance" means in a team sport like basketball.
