So here's the problem.
Okay, 200,000 people have dropped WaPo because of Jeff Bezos's cowardice. They voted with their wallets, and now WaPo is financially impacted.
In an ideal world, they will try to earn back these subscribers by rebuilding trust, perhaps Bezos stepping down.
But what will actually happen is that they'll just pivot hard to the right, knowing that the left they lost is too hard/expensive to earn back, and the right is easy.

Then once they've grown their right-wing audience, they will operate in perpetual fear of alienating them and having no backup audience, so they will shift further and further right as they kill more stories that would gather a left-leaning audience.
Every article that's anti-left in some way will be linked by the right prefixed with "even the Washington Post says" to imply they were and are liberal.
