RE: infosec.exchange/@catsalad/115…

Mozilla keeps telling it's optional etc but at the same time they keep stuffing it in people's face @mozilla

I'm not sure how much more clear we need to be we don't want #AI bs in every product

So far, their words match their actions.

But the focus on giving users convenient access to large AI or local open-source Mozilla AI is disappointing

And I'd JUST switched to Firefox from Google this past year. Now I've got to move everything over to Brave. This is getting truly annoying. But it's got to be done.

Thanks for the reminder to once again undo their fuckery with my privacy settings. So uncool. @mozilla
in reply to stux⚡

As far as I'm aware @palemoon is not adding AI anything to it, which is exactly why I'm sticking with it as my main browser.

Librewolf and Mullvad Browser for me these days.

Occasionally Brave but that is only for when a site refuses to work.

@mastodonmigration LibreWolf is looking better by the day. I am starting to think that Mozilla has a US DNC problem: It is incompetent by design because it only exists to provide legal cover-fire to Big Evil.
in reply to stux⚡

*sigh..*

Just came across this crap in my #Firefox settings

Why @mozilla, just why..

in reply to stux⚡

Maybe we should add extra default footer text to websites that are not AI generated?

I already do that with emails so why not on the web

But how does this not costs a shit ton 😆 it's all so messed up and unneeded
in reply to stux⚡

Well, they have to be on the AI bandwagon. Like everybody does. It’s optional and this is the positive part …
in reply to cholling

Uh, uh 😆

What was it, OpenAI's most expensive plan even generates a loss for them, something like that

in reply to stux⚡

if i'm not mistaken, this feature has been present in firefox for considerable time. Nobody has to use it. I see no problem here. All optional. All can be ignored, omitted. There are people who want this (not me, but everybody I know is using those things daily). So your opinion, or mine., is as valid as anyone's. In other words: opinions are like arseholes. Everybody's got one.

Mozilla for sure needs new people at the top. "Everybody" understands they should focus on open standard reference implementations of the web. And research. Be the right hand of @w3c . Mozilla can survive on donations, private/public/academic collaboration and internships. 100% nonprofit is the only way.

Get rid of all mainstream MBA people ASAP!
