in reply to stux⚡️ • • •My city, Kansas City, has a lot of protected bike lanes, but I still have to be careful that someone isn't pulling out of a fast food drive through and paying more attention to their burger or soft drink.
Like this morning. Had a jerk leaving a McDonald's just drift into my lane. Infuriating.

Cars are normal and the focus here, so culturally, it's expected that those of us on two wheels need to be the careful ones and not the drivers of the giant metal death machines.

in reply to stux⚡️ • • •public transport only works when it's given an advantage over the car. Putting buses and trams in a traffic lane is pointless as the only people that'll use it are those that don't have the means to drive.
If you can make it compete on travel time, then public transport becomes more popular, which means it gets more investment. And the benefit snowballs.

in reply to stux⚡️ • • •In Vancouver, unfortunately, we have drivers (in mostly Teslas, some SUVs and sport cars) driving in curb lanes of *parked* cars and dedicated public transit lanes (HOVs) to bypass other vehicles.
No law enforcement in sight.
