Another book out of my history of reading Fantasy. This one had some influence through the moral framework it put forward, but it is also one of the series in which by the end it became apparent that the author is some kind of rightwing libertarian like Michael Crichton turned out to be.

Yes, good way to put it. That dude seems like he would be friends with Andrew Tate.
It seemed like maybe 9/11 or something like that made him freak out and go hard right or something.

I mean: Many people have been influenced by, say, the Bible or the Quran and both contain morally extremely questionable ideas and many of the authors have clearly been deranged psychopaths.
Still, they have a certainly left a strong mark on quite a lot of people and thus qualify here.
