I feel like they left the ending open ended. Beck was attacked by the creature near the end of the movie during their escape. He escapes by the skin of his teeth and floats to the top and is last seen happily walking away with Williams after punching the corporate goon lady in the face.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Beck is infected by not showing yet. It took quite a few hours for Cobb to finally have his chest moment.
