Hier wurde Poesie als solche ernst genommen, in ihrer Eigenart, von innen. Es zeigte eine Form von Widerstand gegen unmenschliche Verhältnisse, die ihre Kraft aus eben der Form zog.
This book not only familiarised me with the work of Georg Trakl (@trakl), but also opened up completely new approaches to understanding poetry beyond the sluggish class consciousness á la Georg Lukacs. Here, poetry was taken seriously as such, in its own way, from the inside. It showed a form of resistance to inhuman conditions that drew its strength from its very form.
