Sometimes its worth remembering quite how much of advantage (that English is the world's most spoken language) the UK has managed to throw away through political economic mismanagement over the years...
We have (one might think) a home language advantage in trade & politics.... but our sense of entitlement, greed, contempt for others & all round petty mindedness has annoyed so many people over decades (if not centuries) that is all pissed into the wind.
