Mythologies are usually more of the fantasy genre than science-fiction. Nowhere is it claimed that the power of the gods were gained through scientific or technological advances.
Maybe the story of Icarus could pass as sci-fi.

in reply to Steph Roccia (it/that) • • •Sci fi lives within the laws of physics, and includes details about how the protagonists overcome the challenges posed by them. In fantasy anything goes and the only restrictions are those imposed by story's canon.
