Well agree or disagree, unless someone successfully makes a stand against these kind of actions. The plumber is going to flush it all down the drain.

What's to be done? It's IP, and asking for it be fair use probably won't work.
in reply to Patrick

In fairness, Nintendo has been consistent with this kind of thing. It takes them a while before they raise the DRM flag, but they always get to it in the end. That said, @BeAware's point is correct. There needs to be a mechanism to protect legacy content because this is happening a lot these days, for various reasons. Maybe there's a way to open up old, rusting IPs before tech advances bury them?

The way I see it change the law or boycott the company using the law but all these complaints about the person merely complying with the existing law by taking down the content as required by law are ridiculous.

they should be forced to automatically forfeit the IP if they don't issue a takedown notice within 1 year of the offending content being produced. 20 years is fuckin insanity and a travesty.

@BeAware @taladar
I think the whole copyright thing should be limited to 20 or something years as it was initially proposed by the british parlament.
The current absurd length of copyright was proposed in the US, mostly by corpos, mostly by disney, if i remember things correctly.

BeAware :veriweed: reshared this.
