I just finished The Dark Between The Trees, by Fiona Barnett. Creepy, creepy archaeology/history field trip goes very, very wrong, despite -- and this is a nice touch -- the repeated mentions of the PI completing the risk assessments.

Mostly vibes, rather than plot explaining what was actually going on, but it still worked.
