Adventures at the Repair Cafe! My beloved crepe maker had stopped working, so I finally had a reason to go to the repair cafe! The one in Pittsburgh is once-a-month at Construction Junction, like Creative Reuse but for building supplies, which I'd also wanted to check out...

I thought it might be the switch, but my repair person said it's often the thermal fuse for the heating element, so we checked that first (by "we" I mean he did all the work and I watched while holding parts)...turns out the fuse was not our villain!

Turns out it *was* the switch, which my repair person tested by bypassing the switch with a hot wire. This was the most exciting part of the repair because crepe maker is now LIVE and getting hot fast.

Turns out you can pop out the switch...

...but ofc the repair cafe doesn't come stocked with highly specific rocker switches.

We had a moment of silence for the passing of Radio Shack.

But it turns out that you can get these switches for about $5 online, so I'm gonna order it and finish the repair myself.

10/10 would Repair Cafe again

Don't assume you don't have repair cafes near you! They're really in the "pop up" stage most places β€” showing up on library calendars, farmer's markets, etc. Pittsburgh has a standing once-a-month one because PGH is just heckin cool that way (this city punches way above its rep!)
