A viral TikTok lists 6 'fake health' brands with contaminants. The underlying testing is real, but the legal status of each claim varies a lot:
1. Simply Orange (Coca-Cola): A class action alleged PFAS in the juice. The lawsuit was DISMISSED twice, most recently in September 2025. The court ruled the plaintiff couldn't link third-party testing to his purchases and that EPA drinking water standards don't apply to juice. PFAS may be present, but the case failed.
2. SunChips: Independent testing found 0.14 ppm glyphosate. Below EPA's 30 ppm limit for grains, but detected. The corn was also 100% GMO.
3. Campbell's microwavable soups: A 2026 class action alleges polypropylene containers leach microplastics when heated. Real lawsuit, early stages. The FDA says current evidence doesn't show health risk from microplastics at detected levels, and 'microwave safe' is not a federally regulated term.
4. Nature Valley: General Mills settled in 2018, removing '100% Natural' labels after glyphosate was found at 0.45 ppm (below EPA limit).
5. Vital Proteins collagen:

5. Vital Proteins collagen: Clean Label Project found heavy metals. But 47% of ALL protein powders tested exceeded regulatory limits. Organic plant-based powders had the most contamination.
6. Sabra hummus: EWG found glyphosate (110-743 ppb). The 2021 recall was Salmonella, not Listeria as the video claims.

The health-food staple hummus and the chickpeas it is made from can be contaminated with high levels of glyphosate, a weedkilling chemical linked to cancer, according to independent laboratory tests commissioned by EWG.

1. Simply Orange → Uncle Matt's Organic OJ
2. Sun Chips → Siete Grain Free Tortilla Chips or Jackson's Sweet Potato Chips
3. Campbell's microwavable soups → Pacific Foods Organic Soups
4. Nature Valley bars → RXBAR
5. Vital Proteins collagen → Ancient Nutrition Multi Collagen (Clean Label Project verified)
6. Sabra hummus → Cedar's Organics or make it at home
Important caveat from the research: the Clean Label Project found that 47% of ALL protein powders tested exceeded regulatory limits for heavy metals. Organic plant-based powders had the MOST contamination - 3x more lead than conventional. Whey-based, non-chocolate protein powders had the lowest levels.
For hummus, the EWG testing found that organic brands still had detectable glyphosate (likely from drift), just at lower levels. Making it at home from organic chickpeas is the cleanest option.
