‘I'm Going to Bluesky’ Is the New ‘I’m Moving to Canada’

Disappointed #X users are going to #Bluesky instead of #Mastodon

People like what is closest to what they are already using. #Mastodon is laid gratuitously different in terms of buttons to push and links to click. People who left #Twitter earlier didn't like that and left.

The crowds are different.

The prime content providers are staying on #X. Some are going to #BlueSky. Some are reposting here with #bots

Then there is the ridiculous size limit on toots on many servers

@vegdc I don't blame them. This place is not ready for the masses. The average person needs their hand held at every step. You have to think when joining Mastodon and people are not good at that.

I don't think it is because they aren't good at thinking. I think they want what they are accustomed to. That is something the open source community has refused to accept since it existed. Gratuitous differences are the most obnoxious and the open source community seems to love those.

@vegdc Oh it is most definitely partially because they either aren't good at thinking or they are just too lazy.

I can't disagree more. Are you excited or annoyed when your favorite drugstore or market rearranges all of the products for no reason?

What about if you are car shopping, but there is no steering wheel, no clutch, no break pedal. A different way of controlling the car, but with no significant benefits to pay for that change? Are you going to move on and look at other cars?
