An idea to shame users of corporate social media sites:

Instead of calling them Users, call them Customers.

You know, draw attention to how they are not just passively existing on those sites, but by being on them they are giving money to bad people.

Thing is, those sites have actual customers: the ones that pay them for their users.

@pre Or, as I like to say, the livestock being farmed (because these are factory farms for human beings we’re talking about and their business model is people farming).

@aral @pre I agree those sites are lots of things, and there are actual paying customers, but if you were talking to someone and you kept referring to them as a Facebook customer, I think they'd start getting a bit annoyed by it, but it would perhaps make them see they are supporting the business model with their presence on the site.
