the UN is a joke regardless. What would it accomplish to expel Israel? This is a group that includes the USA, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and all the lesser monsters. It's a monster club. That's its job. How would expulsion protect anyone?

May be that's the point. The whole world (that's every country in existence other than US, UK, Israel) can see the clown show for what it is. May eventually lead to dissolution of the UN and creation of a new international body that IS capable of upholding international law, albeit that's a long way off yet...
