A leader's first responsibility is to his team.

This week was the first week in 6.5 years that my politics and rhetoric put the team in harms way.

As such, I have decided to step aside as CEO.

My friend, colleague, and founding teammate @ericturnr will be taking the helm.

Statement: I've decided to step aside from my operating CEO role at Messari and transition to the role of Senior Advisor. This was a decision I did not take lightly and one I was very close to making last month, as I considered the problems I was most passionate about tackling in society at large.
This is an important year for Messari, the crypto industry, and our country. I have never been more excited about Messari's trajectory and I remain committed to the team and our mission, and will remain full-time with the company working on our long-term strategy. I am passing the reins fo Eric Turner, our Chief Revenue Officer.
Eric will serve as Messari's interim CEO, effective immediately. Eric has been with me since Day 1, and helped build our research team from scratch, build some of our foundational products, and most recently manage our sales and marketing functions. He truly has done it all. An understated, but terrific partner since our founding. I have the utmost confidence in him, and the other high-integrity, high-performance colleagues at Messari who will continue to deliver for our customers and investors.

On a personal level, I was horrified at the attempted assassination of President Trump this past Saturday, and have been disgusted at the media and administration's abject failures at pressing for answers in the attack's aftermath, as well as their failure to tamp down divisive rhetoric that contributed to the attack in the first place. I will be channeling all of my energies into addressing the underlying issues that have led to these systemic problems in our institutions.
I thank my colleagues, our partners and customers, and our investors for the faith they have entrusted in me over the past 6.5 years as CEO. It's time for leadership changes at Messari.
