#Degoogled Photos? Yes, it's possible. βœ…πŸžοΈ

The Big Tech does not need to scan & have access to your pictures & videos πŸ‘‰ use a Google Photos alternative instead.

Find out which open source photo storage we'd recommend: tuta.com/blog/google-photos-al…

Immich is one of the best pieces of Software I have ever used! Thank you Futo

The logo in middle is so much superior than googles. I opened the link to find whose it is. Can't believe the open source Immich is better at logo than big tech. How times have changed.

Ente πŸ’š I feel it's much more private than Google Photos for family photos and personal stuff because it's open-source and has end-to-end encryption. However, if I had enough money, I'd invest in a NAS and try out Immich as a backup solution to better preserve my important data.

Ente works really well for me. It's simple easy to use.

@ente is awesome and constantly improving. I can’t imagine going back now.

Getting Immich set up properly is not for the faint of heart. But once it’s working is absolutely fantastic.

In my case I use Fossify Photos. Works well and it's simple. Also LineageOS Gallery works very well.

have you considered asking your Mastodon admins to moderate signups so people can't use your server for spam?

Proton Drive is pretty good, except for iOS media the files remain in .HEIC format so you’d have to deal with another program/app to convert it all :-/

For the love of god, please, can somebody copy the way Google Photos implemented text captions?
I'm talking about the way you can add text blocks between images in an album.
It's the only reason I'm still using it.
@zeitkapsl @ente or #Immich whoever does it first will have my eternal loyalty.

I know people are working on a feature for Immich to display descriptions during slideshows. I have my eye on it.

Maybe opennoodle.de might be worth a mention? We solve a lot of pain points that Immich users have been waiting years for (shared spaces, s3 storage, better search/filtering among many others)

I'm using my Proton drive to store my phone photos, but there are so many apps on the phone that you're trying to feed your photos to, and they won't listen unless you have Google Photos.

or you can use pCloud like I do. Based in Europe, an alternative to Google Drive that comes with a built in dedicated Photos section.
