Currently, the outrage to the visible contents of the Epstein files is so mild that I have to think the majority of people just aren’t even casually checking them. I can’t think of a phrase to describe what I’ve read even as a forensic analyst. “Cartoonishly evil” is too gentle. Horrific. Inhuman.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

Atrocities (yes!) 👍 all of the extreme end of the spectrum adjectives.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

The vast majority of people get their news from the media, not from newly published primary sources, and the media are largely not on the right side. (Well, they are on the right side of the ancien-regime French parliament.)

I think it's mostly a survival mechanism, considering it's increasingly looking like no one's going to face consequences. (Stateside; in the UK it looks like this is going to be the thing to topple Starmer)

I haven't had the intestinal fortitude to read very much of the actual files but even what I have and what I have had described by others is, well, I am incandescent with rage at the whole thing. It's like some kind of fractal-shaped rage where I keep looking at some bit in particular and have all sorts of rage about that and the closer you look the more fucking enraging stuff there is.

in reply to Lesley Carhart

I don't know how anyone is not looking up likely names in them constantly to see if they're in there and how

in reply to George B

@gbargoud [Raises hand] Why would anyone?

Everything I’ve heard is that the files are almost randomly redacted and are so lacking in organization that one must rely on one of the 3rd-party sites that have popped up claiming to have them and not to have doctored them. I’m happy to rely on others to do the digging and analysis.

I’m pretty sure that any billionaire is depraved beyond my imagination, along with a wide swath of politicians who cater to them. I don’t need details.

in reply to 🆘Bill Cole 🇺🇦

@gbargoud Also: I had my fill of “SURPRISE! KIDDIE PRON!” from my time served working “abuse” 20+ years ago. Digging into a pile of a pedophile’s incriminating evidence seems like an activity I should demand pay for.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

@gbargoud Yet. I think it’s growing and that there are wheels grinding slowly to get broader exposure of the most evil parts that can be at all sanity-checked.
E.g. the FBI was taking tips in 2019 after his death which they never followed up on. Some was X-Files stuff, IF the image I saw posted was real. Some was stuff that no one sue-able would publish without hard sources. There’s layers of possible targets for anger there, depending on what is real.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

Everybody’s like, “That’s what super-villains do 🤷🏼‍♂️” and I gotta take beat to process this. It’s mind-boggling. Disgustingly mind-boggling.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

i haven't deep dived much mostly because the mixture of boiling rage and physical nausea is overwhelming. there aren't enough criminal charges or long enough prison sentences for these folks. not even sure how to help heal the victims but we can't lose sight of that as a goal too.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

I think the average person is just doing a casual check for a couple names and unless they come across something horrific right away are largely ignoring the rest or waiting for someone else to give them a synopsis on what's in there.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

I know! And if you don’t want to go through it all, at least listen to a lot of the independent creators who have and are sharing what they found. Believe the victims. Give all the benefit of the doubt to them, and absolutely none to these men who are what I would call demonic. Horror films couldn’t even be this grotesque and worse, all joking and normalized between them. Children spoken of in unimaginable ways…
in reply to Lesley Carhart

A few months back financial commentator #PatrickBoyle made a video on the "birthday book" where he provided a S.F.W. explanation of what was actually in it. His video the other day had repeated statements along the lines of, ''... and no, I can't even explain what they did in these files because, unlike the birthday book episode, there is just no way to talk about their actions without being disciplined by YouTube. Yes, the new things we've learned about in the newly released files are really that much worse...''
in reply to Lesley Carhart

And that evil has likely been repeated in many institutions over many decades or centuries. Repeatedly care homes in the UK have to reveal pathological levels of patient abuse. As for religions protecting celibate 'members'...
in reply to Lesley Carhart

the problems are:
(1) nobody actually reads these big infodumps
(2) people who are in the cult aren’t going to actively seek out information counter to the cult. And sometimes will actively disbelieve or look away. (See: anti-vax movement)
(3) for people out of the cult, it’s merely confirming priors
in reply to Lesley Carhart

and all this information has been with law enforcement for at least five years, probably more towards a decade.
So nothing will happen.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

to your point, I am telling everyone that is an adult to read them and process what you read. I am surprised everyday that the streets are not filled with millions of people wielding pitchforks and torches.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

perhaps most of us actually expect the most powerful people in society to treat the least powerful so appallingly, that they don’t need proof anymore to believe it?

The question then becomes, if we know that this is how people in power behave, why aren’t we changing systems of decision-making and the use of authority so that no individual is ever able to abuse their power like this again?

in reply to Lesley Carhart

"The banality of evil" has been stuck in my head for a week.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

I haven't got the stomach to read them, I know what's in 'em. Sentences like 'Epstein led the 10 year old into Trump's penthouse, where he inserted a finger into her vulva, to see if she was tight enough, then grabbed her chest, commenting 'hmm.. she's got no tits at all, nips are hard as bullets tho', before proceeding to rape her as she cried for mommy, while Ghislaine watched .. and shit like that. No thanks.

It’s hard for me not to spiral. There’s so much evil in there.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

There is a much easier way (albeit very creepy) to view the files. Go to Jmail.world to view it like you are logged in to his email. Again, very creepy. Even has mock Google apps.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

@mercuryjohn personally I've seen enough to know I don't want to read anymore and I'd be happy if all the perpetrators had a trip to Venus.

But it's also about dismantling the corridors of power, before anyone even gets close to justice, and that's a daunting prospect for anyone. I have to wonder if that was the point in releasing everything the way they did - to overwhelm and to demonstrate their power.

I think the anger will come as people have time to process.

in reply to craignicol

@mercuryjohn although I do fear that a lot of the work in processing this and packaging it up to be palatable will come from victims themselves (whether in the files or with similar experiences).

At least in the UK the authorities seem to be taking it seriously so it'll be professionals looking at it, rather than leaving it to others.

there's no expectation that any structures exist to hold any of them to account. Personally what I've seen has frozen my brain in horror. I can't even discuss it.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

Can you give some examples? With content warnings of course. I'm out of the loop.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

The type of evil that one shouldn’t even begin to investigate without professional training and psychiatric support.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

from what little I've heard and from that inferred what was actually mentioned? Yeah it's... abhorrent.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

I cannot look at them. I need to stay emotionally intact.
But I do watch YT videos where people highlight some of the info.
I'm guessing Peter Attia has lost a lot of clients and YT followers.
Same for Deepak Chopra (for speaking engagements and/or new book deals).
There is a lot of info. But some people are staying focused to reveal it to a wider audience.
The DOJ under Trump won't do anything. But I don't think this is going to go away. I think outrage is building.

The child-raping billionaires financing MAGA are communicating their values loud & clear.

-- Protect the guilty
-- Money is the only thing that matters
-- The cruelty is the point
-- Accusations are Confessions
-- Sell-out and collaborate with enemies if they pay enough

Yeah, it's really bad.

And I hear folks say, "They'll believe a dead man's emails before believing women" - but I think those in power who could have done something *did* believe the women, but didn't see a damn thing wrong with anything that happened.

Because women are just things and you can always buy another one. 🤬

in reply to Lesley Carhart

To most its just same old shit and they dont care anymore.

See this video that was shared with me today that really fits most things in the US in past 10 years. 😢

@justin we've already been numbed and conditioned by the govt response(s) to concerns over COVID, climate, genocide. I'm expecting the same playbook will be used again for the billionaire PDFile Nazi death cult - minimize, obfuscate, normalize. We must not comply.

the part that gets me is that the conspiracy theorists who have been yelling about this sort of nonsense for years suddenly don't care now that there's hard evidence. I already didn't respect them but somehow I respect them even less now, just complete fake fools all of them
in reply to Lesley Carhart

I don’t know. I see plenty of coverage but I don’t rely on MSM or TV/cable coverage.

one of the first questions I ask people is: “where do you get your news?”

Many of them use aggregators such as Apple News, or they scan NYT headlines, then watch CNN or similar later in the day.

And a much bigger number say they get their news from podcasts and YouTube.

so yeah….is there enough coverage? depends where you look

in reply to Lesley Carhart

Really feels like the guillotine would be too humane for these monsters.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

I can only read a few minutes at a time because the contents are so an appalling and sickening. The media *should* be reporting on this and castigating members of congress who are protecting these monsters.
in reply to Lesley Carhart

in my circles at least people are aware; but reaction is muted because; where do you go with that.

A lot of people don't want to show their power until it will be effective.

But I also go yell at the federal building and the sentiment amongst drivers (the whole point of our downtown protesting) is running our way. When the governor the mayor and the Sheriff are all asking for the same thing as the protesters...

that's a very weird space to be in.

Americans are not going to just passively accept being ruled by a gang of thugs and pedophiles.
