As of today, mstdn.social, masto.ai, mastodon.coffee, gram.social, pixey.org, vido.social and ALL other platforms I host enforce the following rule WITHOUT exception:
8. No AI (LLM) Agents. We want to keep this platform human, not robot.

Luckily the Fedi community is kinda at a better end in spotting it

I am curious to know your experience moderating that rule. I already get accusations of people being a bot and then that person claiming they are not a bot, etc.

@jerry Its hard indeed, when not sure I go with human to be sure ;)

If it does turn out to be a bot it will show over time on the amounts of reports but that’s a different difficult questionnaire

While i fully agree with the sentiment, i believe that banning something will not limit it, it will just force it into disguise, making it harder to detect.

I believe that there is no deterministic means of detecting whether a piece of text is written by an LLM. How are you going to enforce this rule in your platforms?

I left a few online crochet groups cuz of AI pics.

I know some AI images (and labeled so) have been posted on pixey.org in the past I will watch more closely now.

and how do you handle the case of people accusing another to be an AI, when the former is not an AI ?

Because many will tell you to go to hell if you ask personal info to verify ?

actually I meant to ask this... I joined in 2023 after a previous server I had been on simply blinked out of existence without a warning one day. At the time I never thought of LLMs or similar forms of AI, I just joined this server because it seemed to suit my needs, but since then I started wondering what the .ai in masto.ai actually stands for... do you mind me asking?
