This is an excellent thread which I can now quote-boost to add #USpol for the benefit of filters.

Many people I know still in uniform are deeply concerned about staying on the right side of international laws of warfare. Believe it or not, we spend a lot of effort to minimize unnecessary killing. That was a large part of my job in 2016-7 in the counter-ISIS fight.

This administration's approach is a a recurring slap in the face to the professional military.

Well it's worth emphasizing, Hegseth thinks he will get away with it because we elected and reelected a bunch of representatives who are cool with this sort of thing.

We need to emphasize that it's up to voters to stop reelecting ineffective congresspeople. In the end it's up to us because in the end it's up to the people that we elect to hold these folks accountable.

We get the government that we vote for. We should stop voting for this one.
