12 years ago, everyone was making fun of Americans for that poll that 1/4 of surveyed people said "the sun goes around the Earth" instead of "the Earth goes around the sun". I didn't think the pile-on was appropriate for a bunch of reasons (e.g. both answers are wrong), but I also didn't like it because most people can't explain WHY we know that Earth is the one doing most of the movement.
I'm now in a position to teach this as part of a class. First I got my class to brainstorm a few reasons why one might believe in Geocentrism or Heliocentrism. They didn't come up with too much, but I was really happy about the point about "we don't feel the movement". (1/2)
