... but still plenty of "fun", like just now, when I double-clicked a remote .R file in FileZilla, expecting it to open for viewing, but getting a "No program associated" error message instead. Now I know the solution is to click Edit -> Settings -> Filetype associations and add

R /usr/bin/flatpak run --branch=stable --arch=x86_64 --command=NotepadNext --file-forwarding com.github.dail8859.NotepadNext @@ %f @@

below the existing entries ... but yeah, that was *not* an obvious five-second solution first time around. 🤣

Congratulations. After your suggestion to take a closer look at Zorin, I've done the same. Most of what I needed is working, and the stuff I haven't been able to isn't worth the pain of staying with Windows. I am running it on a dual boot, but haven;t booted into Windows in weeks 🙂
I have 3 more PC's I plan to do the same with now I'm feeling comfortable with things. Thanks again for the suggestion!

I did the same for the same reasons a few weeks ago and feel the same about it :)
Yeay to us, and I hope many more people will make the jump!

OK, to be fair my computer does sometime switch off weirdly when I tell it to switch off (like, showing matrix-like code and not switching off, or showing an empty black screen but remaining on), in which case I have to force-quit. Hopefully that will resolve itself soon (i.e., once I ask the #ZorinOS forum about it). Otherwise it feels much faster than Windows and I got a small plugin to have different backgrounds and pinned programs per "workspaces" (desktops) and I really like it!
