Trying to decide whether to apply for a job. I could credibly apply for it, but I'm not convinced I'm quite at the core of what they want and I'm not convinced I want to move city for it and applications are a lot of work. On the other hand, properly paid permanent-track jobs are so extremely rare in the humanities that maybe I should roll the dice regardless. I don't know, I'm just feeling anxious about it either way right now.

From what I see among my friends in humanities, I would lean towards go for it. As you say, the opportunities aren't aplenty, and the saftey do wonders for the mental health.

@GoblinQuester Yeah, it's the "job security would help, but having to uproot my life move somewhere less international where I know fewer people and it's harder to travel from might have the opposite effect"... it's tricky.
