#Paelatine / "instigator of violent activity"
Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, a 26-year-old American-Turkish dual national, has been shot dead – reportedly by Israeli troops – while participating in a protest against settler expansion in the occupied West Bank.
IDF claimed that they were looking into the incident and maintained (misleadingly) that Eygi was an "instigator of violent activity."
According to The Guardian, Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi's death is not an isolated incident. At least 10 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops in protests related to settler expansion in the West Bank since 2021.

Jonathan Pollak, a volunteer with ISM, said the shooting took place about 30 minutes after protesters had dispersed, at a time when there were no active clashes taking place, and as foreign volunteers, including Eygi, stood observing at a distance of about 200 yards from the Israeli military.
“There was no justification for taking that shot,” he said.

“Eygi was shot more than a half-hour after the height of confrontations in Beita, and some 20 minutes after protesters had moved down the main road — more than 200 yards away from Israeli forces”
Washington Post investigation, based on eyewitness accounts and extensive video evidence, reveals that Eygi was shot more than 30 minutes after the peak of the protest, and 20 minutes after protesters had retreated far from Israeli positions, posing no imminent threat. The investigation also found that a Palestinian teenager standing near Eygi was wounded by Israeli fire.
The #IDF has not provided satisfactory answers regarding the targeting of protesters from a distance, the use of live ammunition in such a situation, or the identity of the alleged "instigator."
The incident raises serious questions about the IDF's rules of engagement and their disproportionate use of force against Pales

Reminder, Eygi was fatally shot in the head by the IDF during a protest following Friday prayers. IDF claims that Eygi's death was an accident; she was unintentionally hit by a stray bullet aimed at a "key instigator" during a "violent riot." The “instigator” may have been a Palestinian youth. The IDF has not provided evidence or justification for the use of live ammunition, or the targeting of individuals from a distance, which is a daily occurrence in fact which most of the times goes unquestioned, or simply reported in Israeli media as “terrorist(s) neutralized.”
