Accepting almost* everything in #webdev eventually falls but agreeing w/ @chriscoyier here.

"Technologies do tend to come and go.... But when tech gets big enough, it tends to not go. #WordPress is huge, and it’s been huge every second of my entire web dev career. To me it echos social media in a way. In the middle days of Facebook, it’s demise was often predicted.... But it didn’t, and it’s demise is no longer predicted. It’s too big to fail. So too is #React."

As a #programmer (#PHP and other) i think the “rollback” work that has been done in #WordPress (and looks like more coming) is very impressive given the complexities and the scope:

I completed the switch of my blog from #wordpress to #11ty this morning. It seems to be working so far. There may be weird lingering links to feed that still need to be redirected. Or maybe I'll just let them 404 and have the bots figure it out.

I wrote up a post talking about my process of migration. Hopefully this can be of use to anyone else who goes through the same journey, and will let you get going a bit faster than me.

A happy ending for the company who annoyed #Apple & #iMessage users everywhere.

As far as a universal messaging system goes, this has been attempted numerous times with little success. I can see #Beeper complimenting #WordPress sites, but I do not see them creating a universal standard for sending messages.

But do we need a universal messaging system when we have email‽

I think #Wordpress is decent, and I'm a big fan of #Simplenote, but I'm wondering what their strategy will be.

It *could* be really fantastic news. And it could not.
