Well, I have deleted the Threads app. They don't seem interested in integrating in good faith, unfortunately. Therefore I don't see any point in advocating for them further.
Federate with them if you wish, but my first hand experience with their dev team has been completely in bad faith on their part...🤦♂️

Every now and then while browsing the Federated timeline, I'll come across that dumb troll who says something like "Fediverse SUCKS! There's nobody here!!!"
All I can think in that moment is, "oh yeah? Then who the fuck are you and why are you on my timeline?!?!"
🤦♂️people are so dumb. Don't post on a platform and complain about it unless you're trying to make the platform better.

I was taking a peek at the numbers at https://fedidb.org/software for some of the #Fediverse server softwares that I've run.
Some stuff that I found interesting... #GoToSocial MAU (Monthly Active Users) is smaller than #snac. I thought it would be the opposite.
Not too surprising, but #Mastodon instances have the highest density of users.
The average statuses per user is quite low for Mastodon, most likely because there's a lot of lurkers and inactive accounts (people who have tried and never came back).
It's great there's so many options for the Fediverse.

I was running this #gotosocial instance on a VPS on #digitalocean that had 2GB of RAM and 50GB of storage. I thought that I'd need the extra storage and that the extra RAM would be useful somehow.
I downsized the instance because I discovered none of the extra RAM was being used (there was always around 60% free). And on the storage front, I was using 8GB of storage (that is total between system and GoToSocial).
GoToSocial is really efficient and that's great for single-user instances.
I follow around 280 people. I have the media-remote-cache-days set for one day because I don't usually look back that far -- and if I do, GoToSocial refetches the media. The media storage directory is around 2.5GB in size -- which is pretty awesome.
