Patriarchy predates capitalism, so that's not the root cause.

There will always be a huge audience looking for easy answers to "what success means & how to get there" - when that answer advantages them.

This is an eternal battle that plays on human nature. It's what got us patriarchy, nationalism, colonialism and religious warfare.

The answer a society gives to that question is typically what holds the society together. The #manosphere is an effort to change our society.

Simon van Teutem argues the manosphere recognises many young men think they lack agency & so:

'the manosphere is a contest over who gets to define success for a generation of boys actively searching for an answer. Young men in a capitalist society understand perfectly well that they will pay the price if they have no answer to what success means & how to get there.'

Capitalism may have robbed them of agency, but patriarchy provides them with a convenient scapegoat: women!
