I'm new to Mastodon and chose an instance related to my amateur interests rather than my professional expertise. I am a professional software developer with degrees in mathematics and computer science, but I love learning about prehistory. Nothing quite sparks my imagination than looking toward the distant past. I think ultimately it's a search for forgotten worldviews that we can apply to ourselves and make our own futures brighter.

I came to #science writing as a reporter first, explaining fracking as rigs went up in neighborhoods 20 years ago. Later, our town was the first Texas city to ban the practice.

Recently, I collaborated with a brilliant researcher and clinician writing a book that makes the science of human behavior accessible to caregivers--so their loved ones with autism can be happy and make progress.

I'm all in, y'all. Writing science in plain language is vital.

Been on mastodon.social for a bit and decided to find a server that would feel more like a community for me! My name is Elle, I'm a #trans girl with #adhd and chronic fatigue and I just like to post about life and projects when I can ☺️

Currently trying to make time to learn #blender , study for a #comptia a+ certification to get into #IT , and have fun playing #videogames and #ttrpgs , all while working 40 hrs a week 💀 but I love my job, so its all good.
