Guess Meta's all in on #AI isn't paying off ;)
"Engagement rates on #Instagram, LinkedIn and #Threads declined last year compared with 2024, while #Facebook, Pinterest and TikTok increased slightly."
Not a good look when you just had to write off the US$ 73 Billion from that failed #Metaverse!
Our #DeMeta group on #Reddit seems to be working 😋:

Germany's government (among many others)* continues working hard on their surveillance state.
They want that #Palantir everywhere¹ & in anything (except their own space, obviously for "safety reasons"), and they keep expanding the #AI mass #surveillance, now even to their capital².
It's just funny to watch these absolute hypocrites, proof they have 0 principles, while talking about how liberal their country is.

German police expands use of Palantir surveillance software
Police and spy agencies are keen to combat criminality and terrorism with artificial intelligence. But critics say the CIA-funded Palantir surveillance software enables "predictive policing."Marcel Fürstenau (Deutsche Welle)

#Meta stores & makes people in Kenya watch everything their users' #smartglasses record (if not opted out) supposedly even having sex, using the toilet, & changing clothes.
Whatever you do, Meta sees, Meta hears, Meta knows:

Same for #MetaAI:
Meta confirmed that it “sometimes” shares content that users share with the Meta AI generative AI chatbot with contractors to review with “the purpose of improving people’s experience...”

What are Meta glasses really recording? The Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet reports on data annotators in Nairobi, Kenya. They're the manual laborers of AI, whose job is to make smart glasses more "intelligent" by visually checking images. They're seeing more than they want to, from bank card numbers to naked bodies.

Meta’s AI Smart Glasses and Data Privacy Concerns: Workers Say “We See Everything”
Bank details, sex and naked people who seem unaware they are being recorded. Behind Meta’s new smart glasses lies a hidden workforce, uneasy about peering into the most intimate parts of other people’s lives.Naipanoi Lepapa (Svenska Dagbladet)
The claim "you won't be replaced by AI, but by a person using AI" is nonsense. The Block layoff victims were some of the most productive, #llm pilled people in the company, but it didn't save them, because that's not what layoffs are about.
The layoff script goes, as always:
- overhire
- lay everyone off
- pretend it's because of #AI productivity gains
- stock go up
There is no individual solution that will protect you from bad leadership and cost cutting.

"AI layoffs" like Block's are a race to the bottom that have nothing to do with productivity.
