Am 24. Jänner 2025 schrieb ich Meine eigene Pixelfed Instanz (pixel.microblog.at).

Ich wollte meine Fotos sowie damals auf Flickr hochladen, ordnen und posten.

Aber bis heute sind es nur 82 Bilder geworden. Im August 2025 habe ich mein letztes Bild gepostet. Da habe ich mir einfach zu viel vorgenommen.

Ich habe mein Blog und mein Microblog. Beide System können Bilder ganz gut darstellen. Mein Blog verkraftet sogar kleine Alben.

Und da gibt es noch die Idee WordPress quasi als eigene Pixelfed-ähnliche Instanz zu nutzen.

Im Sinne meiner Fediverse Konsolidierung im Jahr 2026 habe ich nun die Instanz bei meinem Hoster gekündigt. Ein wenig läuft sie noch weiter und wird dann ganz verschwinden.

Ein bisschen Wehmut hat mich bei der Entscheidung doch erfasst. Aber auch Erleichterung. Jetzt gibt es kein „Ich sollte dort was posten“ mehr.

BOJ (Baekjoon Online Judge), a big competitive programming site in Korea, says it's shutting down on April 28. It has been around since 2010 and, as far as I know, has mostly been one person's work the whole time. The notice doesn't say why. The rumor is that the server bills finally got too high.

What caught my eye is that some people in the Korean #fediverse, including @2chanhaeng@hackers.pub, are already talking about whether a federated replacement could work, with #ActivityPub coordinating things and volunteer nodes doing the judging. I have no idea if that can really work, since timing differences between machines are a serious problem in competitive programming, and I'm not the right person to help with it. Still, I like that the first reaction was to try building something.
