Of course, local musician Jeremy Messersmith caught his reaction to the current playing his explicate-laden protest song:

thecurrent.org/ is streaming music in support of #Minnesota and the general strike all day. I love my local public radio station - and if you have a web connection, you can stream it to your laptops, too.

Example of what is being played that commercial radio conglomerates wouldn't? Songs like Jesse Welles, Good vs Evil

Lots of Green Day, too.

I work alone because I’m a stone cold bitch.

I don't know if many of you remember Digg or not. It was the premier face of the internet....until it died. Reddit was the competitor that replaced it.

Well, it's back!

I created a Linux Audio group, so that Linux music makers can have some representation there. If you are interested, please feel free to come and join! :)

A few years ago, our band switched to using only open-source software to record and produce our music. I've been sharing videos about our experience recently.

Open source isn't the "cheap" option anymore. It's the professional option. 😁

I’m a classically-trained composer, writing a soundtrack to Curse of Strahd. I’m working on Chapter 2: The Lands of Barovia, and releasing a new track every two weeks.

My latest is This Evil Fate of Ours, a combat track.

RE: ravenation.club/@labr/11592074…

Good Monday Morning. Grossly annoying weekend for me. But what do we do? Turn that bad time into something positive for the future.

With that said. I got a new crate from @DJUpNorth for next week's Pick & Mix. And I can't wait to play with these records how I do.

For now, he's show 65. Let us be apart of your morning.

She picked them. I mixed them.

I've been reading Tymoczko's 'Tonality: An Owners Manual'. It's very fascinating. It's full of diagrams (mostly spiral and circular) that illustrate voice leading geometry to explain not just classical functional harmony but also the many non-functional progressions heard in other genres like rock.

I wish though he explained how to follow certain complicated diagrams more fully. At about 150 pages in I got stumped for hours trying to make sense of one. 😵‍💫

This may be obvious to people who used to buy music before streaming became common, but be sure to ALWAYS download and back up the files of the music you buy. Although the music *usually* stays online and can be re-downloaded, they can sometimes disappear without any warning.

In this case, it looks like Purity Ring re-released their 2025 album with a couple of bonus remixes, and as a result pulled the original release from Qobuz (and presumably other DSPs).

Do you miss being super excited about contemporary music? I do. That's why I founded kew. kew is a music player for Linux (and macOS/FreeBSD/Android).

I strongly believe that buying and owning music is much better for music (and for you) than renting it.

kew is fully private, offline and open source. It does not have ads or algorithmic manipulation.

It has gapless playback and shows covers.

You can check out kew here:
