Last week we hosted our first #janeswalk and turned out to be quite a lot more popular than we expected (which is a great thing!)

We did a guided walk exploring the camera surveillance infrastructure built into our city's streets and buildings. We walked in the PATH downtown Toronto between Union and St-Andrew

Thank you everyone for joining!

Another successful (I think) #JanesWalk. Sociology of (Centretown) Third Places. Look at that sky! Jane's walk weather can range from snow to 35°c I'm Ottawa. I'll take light jacket and sunshine. www.janeswalkottawa.ca/en/walks/jan...

Jane's Walk: The Surveillance Stroll

This Sunday, we are taking part in the Jane's Walk festival with The Surveillance Stroll, a guided walk exploring the camera surveillance infrastructure built into our city's streets and buildings. The walk runs from Union Station GO to St. Andrew's.

Hey #vancouver , it's almost time for the #JanesWalk festival and this year I'm leading a walk! It's called "What's Cool About Vancouver" and I'll be talking about stuff I notice about Vancouver as a transplant that makes it nicer to live here (and that might not be obvious if you grew up here or lived here for a long time.). (It won't be brightsiding- I'm here to talk about the problems too! But I hear a lot of locals talk about how Vancouver isn't a very inspiring city and I don't agree, so I want to talk about it.)

It's on Sunday May 3 at 10am and we're meeting at the concrete benches outside Science World, close to Terminal Ave. This walk will be about 1.km long (with a further 0.5km if you want to come hang with me at Small Victory in Yaletown after) and there will be no steps, suitable for people with mobility aids or strollers.

My walk blurb is at janeswalkvancouver.ca/2026-wal… and the festival has a lot of great walks this year, so consider coming on a walk with a neighbour!

(boosts welcome)

Jane's Walk Toronto Launch Event

Photos captured on Tuesday, April 28, 2026

At the STACKT market Clubhouse

28 Bathurst Street, Downtown Toronto

Chief Planner for The City of Toronto as well as the Deputy Mayor attended.

They spoke and shared their enthusiasm for this year's festival with the assembled Jane's Walk Leaders and Festival Organizers.

I video recorded them, InshAllah I can edit and post them soon-ish; because of Mic issues, the audio needs some TLC first.

The Toronto Metropolitan Area has 154 Jane's Walks this festival weekend, May 1-3, 2026.

I'm leading three different walks, one on each day at different times and different places around Toronto.

You can find my walk listings in my mastodon timeline, a few posts back.

Jane's Walks are Free. All of them!

Just show up at the Walk Start locations at the listed start times.
