I agree. But I also think Bsky has a very good approach toward a type of federated discussion and moderation that could act as an overlay with the concept of stackable moderation and followable discussion topics. We kinda have that here with the #threadiverse (Lemmy, Kbin, etc)

There’s also a form of portable identity with the PDS system. We saw this with Zot ans Hubzilla earlier; there’s an FEP that should as some of this here.

ATProto has some nice stuff in it, I’ll admit.

I just attended the "ActivityPub Based Forums and Threaded Discussions" call, and I really like their work on standardising the way, how forums federate.
