That's partially why I'm doing this series of posts - to bring some attention to some of the things I've found that make Sharkey so excellent.
"I don't really like this extreme fragmentation of efforts" - I'm not too sure what to say about that. There's a pile of different fediverse projects scratching different itches, Mastodon is just one of them. I would love more developers to be working on all the projects I like, too, but that's just not the way it works. I'm trying to help support this project in some very small ways.
Things that make Sharkey different from Mastodon:
- Really customizable timelines under the feature called Antennas
- Post length default to 3000 characters, not 500 or whatever Masto generally is (and admins can set whatever they want, so like Masto, instances can vary on this)
- Quote posts
- File management (all attachments to posts wind up as manageable things in a file manager)
- Probably the friendliest user experience of any fediverse platform I've seen
- Polls can have up to 10 options
- Users can build/publish their

- Configurable user lists for specific follow groups
- emoji reactions
- Lots of content types supported in posts, including mod tracker files and shockwave flash.
- Users can utilize a deck layout feature similar Mastodon's advanced layout, but it's easily customizable, includes widgets, etc.
