It still seems that all known #hantavirus cases were on the ship - including the most recent case quarantined in the netherlands. Noone was infected off the ship, those with symptoms all turned out negative later on.
I’m curious if all infected people on the ship really had close contact to ‘patient zero’.
I read nonsense on using #ivermectin against #covid (of course) #hantavirus (recently) but not against #ebola. I’m wondering why?
Is “it lturns you body into a bag of gunk” too unappealing for marketing snake oil?

So, I noticed something about #Trump’s trip to #China, because I tend to pay attention to #bioethics stuff. Amongst all the panopticon bros was a solitary biotech executive; Jacob #Thaysen, CEO of #Illumina.
Illumina holds the patents that mean 80% of the world’s #genomic analysis is done via their products or databases.
According to #CIA agents, the #US left the #WHO so we didn’t have to admit that we’d funded the Chinese lab where #COVID seems to have originated.
Leaving the WHO also means Illumina no longer has to share their data with public health experts. And they’ve been first on the ground in both #hantavirus and #Ebola to sequence these outbreaks. #African countries must sign away their #genome rights before America will pay the health budget Congress authorized. So, that’s fun.
And once again, as I start digging, the #DreyDossier brings receipts. She’s a hella investigator.

Reuters: Spain tests suspected hantavirus case in Alicante
MADRID, May 8 (Reuters) - A 32-year-old woman in the southeastern Spanish province of Alicante has symptoms consistent with a hantavirus infection and is being tested, Spanish health officials said on Friday.
The woman was a passenger on the same flight as a patient who died in Johannesburg after travelling on the MV Hondius cruise ship and contracting the virus, Secretary of State for Health Javier Padilla told reporters.

Hantaviruses, which belong to the Bunyavirales order, replicate and transcribe their genome in the cytoplasm of infected cells. So Hantavirus already won’t enter the nucleus, and Ivermectin, an anti-parasite substance, won’t do much of anything to a virus.

Spanish newspapers are keeping track of the #hantavirus ship as it moves towards the Canary Islands where remaining passengers will be examined and repatriated.
What’s new to me in this report is that 23 people got off the ship in St Helens, and nobody was keeping track of them.
These 23 individuals are now the subject of an international contact tracing effort led by the World Health Organization (#WHO), as the outbreak is linked to the #Andes strain of hantavirus, which can spread between humans. One of these passengers, a Swiss citizen, has since tested positive and is receiving treatment in Zurich.
Y’all remember how covid got its first big push? A cruise ship. It docked, the Trump admin sent healthcare workers to deal with it, then those healthcare workers got on national airlines and flew around the country, and a few weeks later…epidemic.
Unbelievable that these people weren’t being monitored for a human to human spread vector.
