Got involved in a discussion where a prominent dev argues to make the adoption of cryptographic validation easier by giving up on trust anchors.
On my way back from #IETF121 I talked to another attendee who turned out to be Google's Head of Cryptography, Sophie Schmieg. At one point she said the reason cryptographers turned up at IETF is because protocol designers keep making basic mistakes.
I feel the connection between those two conversations so, so hard.
DINRG at #IETF121 made me feel a little bad, but also very good, in ways I didn't expect.
First off, it's how I got there. Dirk Kutscher saw a previous talk I gave at #FOSDEM and asked me to repeat it there. So with a bunch of tweaking, I did.
It was on how technological choices in the web drive its centralization, and it got a lot of feedback from the room, mostly positive I'd say. If you want, you can see it here:
