Doing some seasonal organizing of my internet browsing, and I'm going all-in on the #IndieWeb. I'm here for the wikis, the self-hosted blogs, the decentralized, chaotic social networks. I believe that's the future of quality information on the internet.
I hope to get around to hosting something myself someday, too, but I have yet neither the skills nor the budget.

I had an Apple PowerCD back in the day.
It was really slow -- specifically, it was a single speed CD-ROM drive. And as a reminder to you young folks, single speed CD-ROM drive read speed was 0.15 megabytes per second (Compare that to today's NVMe drives that have a sustained read speed of 7500-14500 megabytes per second).
But hey, like everything Apple, it looked really cool!

I'm not new here, but my old #introduction no longer fits, so here we are.
I'm a wizened (and withering) game dev since 2004, with credits on Warhawk, Starhawk, LEGO Brawls, and Destiny 2. I mainly do design, but I've also got a tech background and I don't shy away from engineering.
I'm currently exploring more writing and linear storytelling, which were my original passions before I fell into games and got hella burned out. 😭
Elon Musk declared he wouldn’t comply with orders from Brazil’s Supreme Court to ban far-right accounts involved in an attempted coup.
It shows how Musk uses Twitter to amplify fascism, but also why many countries are increasingly fed up with unaccountable US tech firms.

Not the prettiest, but it's functional. No better teacher than doing.
The best part? It's open source, so anyone can contribute.

I'm so excited about this upcoming space mission.
NASA has just confirmed that the Dragonfly octocopter will launch in July, 2028. When it arrives, it will spend at least two years flying over the organic-rich sands of Titan, Saturn's largest moon.

Ever since Google updated their algorithm, their search engine has been pretty worthless for me. It yields the same results, no matter how I change the phrasing and other techniques. And the results it yields are pretty irrelevant to my queries.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a better search engine?
Does anyone have any tips for what to write in the search bar to get more relevant results?
Any other suggestions?

"When we blame "laziness" for tech #monopolies, we send the message that our friends have to choose between life's joys and comforts, and a fair economic system that doesn't corrupt our politics, screw over workers, and destroy small, local businesses. This isn't true. It's a lie that monopolists tell to justify their abuse..." - @pluralistic
