A year ago, tonight, a girl who’d never seen her own reflection was sitting with her Eldest child for bedtime. And after Eldest fell asleep, she came across a post suggesting that wishing that she was the other gender was not a very cis thing to do.

It only took a few days to conclude that she wanted to transition so she could show her children what it meant to live authentically. She didn’t want her example to them to be living in the closet.

Anyway. It’s been quite a year.

I took the kids to the park today and for the first time I went out with a skirt and bare legs. I had been looking forward to warm weather for so long, I had been craving wearing this kind of outfit. These things, that felt so daunting and scary just a short while ago, just come naturally right now. It feels right.

As I was walking around the park, feeling the breeze on my legs, I was so happy just for *being*. And this was something I can not remember feeling before; certainly not with this intensity. I am in a good place right now, enjoying every moment of my womanhood. And feeling cute, to boot. I don’t like the way my face looks, but the outfits are compensating for it. ☺️ This is trans joy, pure and simple.

Today marks the 2nd anniversary of when I came out publicly!

It feels like it was yesterday, and also like it was 1,000 years ago. I can hardly imagine what my life was like before, having to hide the real human behind that frustratingly scruffy face.

I'll never cease to be thankful that I'm able to live as my true self, and that my family and friends know me as the real me. I wouldn't trade it for anything 🥹
