This doesn't legitimize his policies, just saying that it's hard for me to believe that he is *that* hated if he keeps getting reelected.

It’s similar to saying that Trump must not be that hated if he keeps getting the Republican nominee.
Oh they are hated, it’s just that they also have a core base that supports them.
