The Speaker can’t just pass legislation unilaterally. He’s even limited in how he can propose the consideration of legislation.

It took this long to find a way to gain enough votes among US representatives to move the legislation forward, and it involved compromises and tradoffs that popped up between then and now.

Many #Europeans have woken up to the doctrine that the cozy #US #NuclearUmbrella might be all but gone nxt year if #Trump wins the #WhiteHouse again.

#Russia's wartime economy produces 4x more artillery shells than all of #NATO combined I read these past days.

Also, with the immense overweight of #US forces and technology in the Alliance and the #House being effectively neutralized by #MAGA on behest of #Trump,...

The math doesn’t support that story, though.

Nineteen Republicans couldn’t stop 193 of their colleagues here. The hardliners were once again sent to the corner in irrelevancy.

That is, until 209 Democrats said, yeah, let’s back the extremists and voted alongside them.

You can’t blame Republicans for stopping legislation that was overwhelmingly blocked by Democratic votes.

We really need to hold Democrats responsible for their support of Republican hardliners instead of having a reasonably functional House.
