Me: Hmmmm it's kind of dim out there. ISO 5000 ought to do the trick.

Camera: I'm flashing all kinds of blinkies at you, Bob.

A wide-angle view of a paved roadway at the top of the Marin Headlands. In the foreground: giant white letters on the asphalt spelling PED, part of a ped xing marker. In the distance: fog. White-out levels of fog. The fog wasn't that thick in reality... but when you set your ISO too high and your camera maxes out its shutter speed trying to cut the light... well you end up with a hot mess. "Art," he claimed later.

When multiple identical replies of yours came through, it was like you were electronically stuttering.

Max Headroom was an electronic character on a TV show here in the late 1980s. So it's a local reference. You could see him stutter here:
