I'm slowly starting to share more images from my multi-year project "This Land Remembers", an odyssey into the last remaining ancient native woodlands of Scotland (like this one from a brilliant Autumn morning in 2025). This evening I have done NIGHT #PhoTrography! Manual mode for the first time and super slow shutter on a motorway bridge. Focusing definitely needs work but I had fun. #Photography

A glimpse of Pathfinder 1 from our house, about to transit Salesforce Tower.

The shot almost worked - 300mm wasn't quite long enough and there was a lot of turbulence in the air (making edges jittery), but it was still kind of cool to see the world's largest aircraft floating around downtown like a stoner looking for a brownie in the pantry.

Just havin a normal one here in The Arctic. Another 60GB of RAW files to work through from this evening.

This set was taken with my fisheye lens, because it's super wide with a little over 120° field of view. And that's handy when you want to capture what's happening from one horizon to another.

(Exposures are F4 for 4sec at ISO 4000. Lumix S9 and TT Artisan 11mm F2.8 MF)

Those ribbons turn into coronas when overhead. This happened about a dozen times in the space of an hour. Amazing to watch it unfold.
When an East-West band moves back towards the North, at some stage it folds back into itself. Hence we get this loop, if you happen to be standing underneath it at the time.
Then another band bounced back from the south, this time it was dancing in ribbons as it drew closer.
That loop retreated to the North-West, like a flame petering out.

I probably overdid it again. But I just like grain. It’s odd - you deliberately remove detail and make the image softer. Yet with grain, I want to hold the picture, I want to feel the surface and run my fingers over it. With smooth, razor-sharp pictures I don’t get that impulse - they feel more distant, less approachable.
