#Movies #DVDs

I just watched #AlienRomulus on DVD. I liked it better than #Furiosa which I gave a 6 & I liked it better than #Fury Road which I gave a 7.

So, just to be consistent, I'd give #Romulus an 8. However, I'd drop all those ratings by 1 when compared with better films.

The ending in #Romulus was just as predictable as the ending in Furiosa but I found the movie more engaging & it had some surprises along the way that I wasn't expecting.

I liked that way that the main character channels #Ripley.

In terms of the chronology of events Romulus apparently comes between #Alien1 (1976) & #Aliens2 (1986).

Didn't like the weird hybrid #Alien all that much but it made sense in the context of the film & it's a nod to the hybrid in #AlienResurrection (1997) which comes much later in the series.

Not a GREAT movie but certainly entertaining and a respectable addition to the now 9 movie Alien series IMO.

lol. We rate films the opposite. I just checked and I rated Romulus 5 out of 10. I loved the look, the feel and homage. My bit was that Romulus derives its plot and many of its tense situations from characters doing stupid and illogical things.

The Xenomorphs tend to be hybrids of what they incubate in. The one in Alien 3 was a fast one because it was a hybrid of a dog (assembly cut)/ox (theatrical).

@mookie We all rate movies based on our own value set.

I liked #Romulus because I it was never clear how the characters would escape the Aliens while Furiosa was just a revenge movie & the only question was how she was going to kill the guy but she never did actually kill him which I found unsatisfying.

The characters in Romulus initially were driven by emotion which was the wrong choice but it made sense because they had no idea what kind of danger they were dealing with & none of them, except the heroine who finally realized what was at stake, survived their stupidity, which made sense to me in the context of the movie.

So, that made Romulus a better & more entertaining movie than Furiosa was to me. 🤷‍♂️
