Unrequited spider love

This is a pair of flea jumping spiders (Naphrys pulex). I found the male first, on a pine tree, and he led me to the female. He was on the hunt for a mate, but she was more interested in a meal than company

Ultimately, he lived to woo another day, so I'd still call it a win

Photo of two small spiders facing each other on a piece of pine tree bark. The upper left spider is the smaller male, and he is backing away from the female with his forelegs raised in what I assume is spider for, "I love you, please don't eat me!". The larger female is advancing from below. The scale of the bark makes it look like the spiders are standing on a rocky cliff or something, but actually they're just very small and it's tree bark.

It's hard sometimes with macro to convey the scale of the animals I'm photographing. These little spiders measure around 2mm long, quite tiny!

Photo of a teeny weeny spider standing on a patch of moss, but the magnification makes the moss look like a jungle of enormous plants. The spider is very round, with large forward facing eyes that are rather cute, overall a light brown speckled color with an orange "cap" on her head.
