Annoying shit on the #
USpol left: MeidasTouch has a tabloid style of presentation that irritates. Their nature is shown by the way they ask for subscribers saying, "Let's get to 4 million!" They currently have just over 3 million. Their goal for this election is to gain 1 million new subscribers. Not that I don't believe they're anti-Trump. It's just a little too exhausting. They show up in my feed because they would round up every new Harris ad & I liked to see them.

Sam Seder's Majority Report is a much better program that covers issues important to left wing voters like me. They host substantive interviews with authors & journalists. On the show Seder often says that he does not manage the YouTube channel or title the clips. This example isn't egregious but is similar to the previous sensational thumbnail.

5/5 What if saving the Earth, health care, and happiness aren't profitable?!
Same question goes for keeping a democratic electorate informed.
Finally a thumbnail suggesting a candidate pretty much guaranteed to earn at least 45% of the vote is "SCREWED!"

This is why I like non-profit news sources like AP, NPR, PBS, ProPublica, TheCity, CityAndState, Gothamist, TexasObserver, etc. HellGate's jouranist-owned model is nice, too.
I don't touch sketchy clickbait like Midas, or, worse, Occupy Democrats. I get you need eyeballs to bring in money to keep the outlet going, but... It's doing more harm than good.
I miss Walter Cronkite...

@Greenseer well put!
When it comes to ideas I don't want sales I want open discourse. I still want to utilize online tools but the sales mindset is toxic to me. I've come to understand, belatedly, that I value narrowcasting not broadcasting. I've been guilty of sales & marketing brain myself, as an artist who doesn't make a sufficient income. I don't know the solution for that but I know I crave sincere connections.
