2 April: What do you want to work on this month?

Life
Try new pain doctor. Prepare to move. Keep in touch with folks. Go see fireflies (45 minutes away & only this month).

Visual art
Continue to inventory paintings & add listings to moving sale page at Rartsy.com

Words
I'm not sure yet if I'll be able to write this month so I at least plan to stream. I talk about anything & work out ideas when I stream, often related to writing projects.

Those all sound very worthwhile and I wish you success with them 🙏

One thing I'd like to work on is sort of the opposite of work but I think it counts: To not struggle so much against time, matter and consciousness. To let things be a bit more and concern myself with opportunities more and problems less.
Mostly because I want to have more mental and emotional capacity to be good to my family but also because I thing it will help me be more creative and thus happier :)

@flowti I love that. I'm now thinking about time, matter, consciousness, and opportunities. I'm not at full functioning so it all feels a bit diaphanous to me; but that's good too. My immediate challenges are moving through pain to get out of bed, get food, take medication, and enter the day. I just got home yesterday from weeks away so food here is questionable. Those are problems; but every day is a new experience, new challenges, new learning opportunities.

Man, knowing where to aim is *such* a crucial skill for staying in the game.
I might use that as a song lyric actually!
You have a great attitude and whenever I see/hear/read your stuff it does me a lot of good as I'm sure it does others too. Thanks for being online!

I hope you can find a way to effectively manage your pain. Creativity can be challenging on its own, but doing it while in pain is even harder.

@saposcat thank you. Lately I feel like I'm lucky if I function every other day. That's big improvement compared to January, so that's positive. Creativity is my emotional therapy, an essential element of enduring pain. I have to make effort on multiple fronts to progress. I receive encouragement that I appreciate (even though some of it takes the form of pushy advice). Slowly forward...

@flowti heehee, funny you ask because I almost put that address in the post. I wasn't sure which link gets a preview when 2 are in a post & I had just made the link image for Rartsy. Plus my streams yesterday are kinda awful. Still, I reject shame: twitch.tv/humanissome

Additionally
humanissome.neocities.org/Blog…
collects fedi blog feeds &
humanissome.org
currently embeds my twitch channel & most recent Mastodon posts. (These are messes in progress.)

I wish you success with everything, especially the pain. But I just have to ask about the fireflies.
in reply to GaH Learner

@gahlearner Fireflies are a memory from childhood, summer camps, trips, & maybe—I'm not sure—in my neighborhood. As an adult I've rarely seen fireflies and thought they were nonexistent in my region. Until a few years ago when I found out that an always accessible state park on the northeast corner of my county is a firefly habitat. They emerge around early April & are gone by May. (The rest of the year I understand they're glowworms in the ground.) It's a magical spring ritual.

Thank you! That's interesting. We have fireflies too, but they are beetles, and we call them glow worms. They cam be seen between June and August, or a bit earlier, nothing is certain any more, it's warmer overall. Between field and creek, where I live, many could be seen, not so many any more recently, perhaps it's too dry, or too many pesticides, or too much light. People with their stupid flickering LED lights in their gardens don't only disturb birds. Sorry, ramble rant...
