7 April SAM: Without showing, describe something you've made or seen that is meaningful to you.

"Made or seen" is so vague. Everything?! I attached clear plastic sheeting over an abstract canvas for a dry erase board with meaning. At the other end of scale I remember entering St. Peter's basilica & feeling awe to be in an interior so large that I felt outdoors. Dizzying. I was Catholic. The arms of the colonnade & the volume of that church interior felt all encompassing. 1/2

2/2 The above is an odd selection for me to share today. I am an escapee of the Catholic Christianity of my childhood. Letting go of those "truths" was a huge step toward who I am now. I object to the hypocrisy & hierarchy of the Vaticanβ€”yet still feel awe for the monuments that humans are capable of building. I could have chosen nature as an example of something seen that's meaningful. I appreciate natural wonder every day. I am also deeply moved by the works of humans. I seek perspective.
